GM Dariusz Swiercz is a Polish-born American chess player who began playing for the United States in 2018. He learned chess at age three and became a grandmaster in 2009 at the age of just 14, making him one of the 30 youngest in history to attain the title and the youngest ever from Poland. His excellent youth career continued with first-place finishes at the 2011 World Junior Chess Championship and 2012 under-18 world championship.
In 2015, he won the Millionaire Chess Open in Las Vegas. In June 2021, Swiercz won the Chicago open ahead of a strong field. He also participated in the 2021 Sinquefield Cup. Swiercz’s peak world ranking to date is 72nd, achieved in September 2018. In February 2021, he was tied for 10th in the United States and 96th in the world.
