Chess and Community of Athens

Chess & Community Inc. was established in Athens, Georgia, in the fall of 2012. CC is a registered non-profit organization, dedicated to empowering young civic leaders in Northeast Georgia through 4 core principles: Academic enrichment, Civic Engagement, Entrepreneurship / Career Path Development, and Cultural Exploration. 

Chess & Community use chess as a learning modality for helping young people develop skills to manage impulsiveness and long-term thinking strategies.  These skills prepare them for the obligations of adulthood. Chess & Community enriches students with experiential learning skills and hands-on engagement so that they become responsible leaders in their communities.

Chess & Community encourages local participation and support, providing goodwill for Athens community businesses and organizations. 

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak Chess & Community needed a way to continue connecting with students and other players. This club is the answer.
